Why do you use chicken meal as a protein source?
Working dogs have specific dietary requirements beyond those of the average dog. Having a highly digestible protein source is important. With Chicken Meal, you are getting a concentrated animal protein source compared to many other alternatives. Chicken meal contains a wide array of the essential amino acids your dog needs to perform at its highest level. We pair Chicken Meal with locally sourced Atlantic herring, a rich source of complementary amino acids and omega-3’s. We choose meals over fresh meat and by-product meals so that you can be assured that the dietary protein is coming from meat sources, rather than vegetables or grains.
For dogs with chicken sensitivities, we recommend our Marine 25 formula. It was conceived with active, food sensitive dogs in mind and contains no chicken, corn, wheat or soy ingredients.
Why do you use corn in your formulas?
Whole Grain Corn, when finely ground, is a source for highly digestible carbohydrates. In this form, it also contains more fibre, more protein and less starch than many other corn derived products. When used appropriately, corn’s high digestibility can be a powerful asset in a performance diet by providing a low glycemic carbohydrate source that is used to fuel sprint dogs and the beginning of endurance activities.
What it is that makes Inukshuk a “high energy” formulation?
We use a special vacuum infusion process to lock more fat into our products. The air is replaced in the kibble with fat, forcing nutrient-rich oils to permeate the kibble without making it greasy.
Nutrients stay deep within the kibble, creating a clean, dry, nutritious food with a high level of healthy fats. This process also makes our food more dense, crunchy and abrasive while chewing, promoting healthy gums and teeth.
What makes your food different?
Inukshuk Professional Dog Food is produced in our family-owned facility in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada under the strictest safety and quality assurance guidelines in the industry. Our nutrient-dense formulas mean you feed less than the common brand dog food, stretching each bag further.

Does your food contain Ethoxyquin?
We do not add ethoxyquin to any of our formulas.
Some of our ingredients are sourced from facilities where other products may contain ethoxyquin, therefore trace amounts may be present. Because of this, the FDA requires us to list this item on our bags. Trace amounts, when found, measure between 0.5 and 0.9 parts per millions (PPM), well below all safety and food regulatory standards.
We are AAFCO Compliant and HACCP Certified.
Can my puppy eat 30/25, Marine 25 or 32/32?
Generally speaking, we suggest puppies start on 26/16 and only move to 30/25, Marine 25 or 32/32 after one year of age or when otherwise appropriate. All Inukshuk Professional Dog Food formulations are designed as complete and balanced rations for all life stages. Please feel free to call us or write, to make sure we can help you select the correct formulation.
Can a dog switch from one formula to another?
Absolutely. Because our three ingredient decks are very similar, dogs can easily graduate or switch between formulas when necessary.
Make sure that the formula you pick is right for your dog, their lifestyle and activity level. Please make sure to follow the feeding guidelines located on the back of the bag, especially when switching to our 32/32 formulation.
Can / Should I use supplements or toppers in addition to feeding Inukshuk?
Supplements and toppers are not necessary when feeding Inukshuk. Inukshuk Professional Dog Food is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles. Our formulas are designed to be complete and balanced meal, containing all the nutrition and essential vitamins a dog needs for a typical, healthy, active lifestyle. Individual dietary needs or preferences that lead to Inukshuk being part of a dietary regiment containing other foods, is ultimately up to the consumer to decide.
Why do your feeding guidelines suggest less than most brands?
Our Inukshuk formulas (especially our 32/32) are the highest energy dog foods available on the market. That means they are highly digestible and nutrient dense. Our 32/32 formula contains 720 Kcal/cup of food, an industry benchmark. This means that you can get the same nutrition out of less food. With Inukshuk you can feed less and save more.
Why does my dog have diarrhea?
Diarrhea or loose stools can be caused by a variety of reasons. Having a robust understanding of your dog’s general health and habits will allow you identify if something has changed in their digestive system.
If the dog is experiencing diarrhea or loose stool and you have assessed it may be due to feeding Inukshuk, it is likely a case of over-feeding. Our formulas are very nutrient-dense. Changes in season or activity level may affect the food requirement of the dog.

Why isn't Inukshuk available in stores?
We sell our food at wholesale prices direct to the consumer. By removing the typical distribution chain of manufacturer, to distributor, to retailer, we can offer our food at extremely competitive prices and pass along the savings to our customers. This is particularly valuable to our bulk buyers.
Can anyone resell Inukshuk?
Because Inuksuk is available through a wholesale strategy, technically anyone who purchases our products in bulk can resell them. We like to work closely with our “Trusted Resellers” and offer a suite of services, providing them with the information they need to sell to their respective client bases.

What is the shelf life of Inukshuk products?
When stored in a cool, dry location, an unopened bag of Inukshuk has a shelf-life of 24 months, and an unopened bag of Inukshuk Marine has a shelf-life of 18 months. However, we recommend you feed it as fresh as possible.
How? Our bags are foil-lined, UV resistant and contain a one-way air valve to help keep oxygen out of the bag. These features are key to keeping the food as fresh as possible.
How much do the bags weigh?
Our 26/16, 30/25, and Marine 25 formulas come in 33lb (15kg) bags, 65 bags to a pallet. Our 32/32 formula comes in 44lb (20kg) bags, 50 to a pallet.
Where are your ingredients sourced?
Quality is important to us. Located on the east coast of Canada, we have ready access to many local fishing and agricultural products. The remainder of our ingredients are sourced from North American producers.

What if my dog doesn't like it?
We offer samples to Canadian customers through our website, so you can try Inukshuk before committing to a full-sized bag. Samples contain two 200gram pouches of a formula of your choosing and cost $5. All samples come with a $5 off voucher to put towards your first purchase of Inukshuk. How do I best store Inukshuk once the bag is opened / unopened bags?
An unopened bag of Inukshuk Dog Food should be stored in a cool, dry location, out of direct sunlight. An open bag of Inukshuk should be able to be folded and clipped shut, taking care to remove as much air as possible from the bag.
